On a perfect day in November, we photographed Julia + Ryan’s San Marcos wedding at Twin Oaks Garden Estate just outside of San Diego, California. This was our third time photographing this stunning tent venue, and it was just as beautiful and memorable. Southern California is pretty spoiled for great weather, even in late autumn. A rain plan is something you rarely need for weddings in this beautiful part of the world. A fire plan though, perhaps…just a month later, this area was engulfed in smoke and flames during a particularly devastating wildfire season between Lost Angeles and San Diego. Fortunately for Twin Oaks Garden Estate, their venue was spared from any damage. Local avocado farms, not so much.
Twin Oaks Garden Estate is a stunning tent venue with the most elegant of ‘getting ready’ locations. There are two cottages – one for the bride, and one for the groom, and both are filled with pretty magical light and decor. What we especially loved though is Julia + Ryan, who were kind, trusting, and very present on this day. We had to note the word ‘present’ because, as you may well-know, it can be challenging to stay in-the-moment on your wedding day when there are many moving parts all around. That’s another testament to this venue – it’s run very smoothly and the staff are so professional and courteous, leaving very little to worry about in the first place. Their San Marcos wedding was full of gorgeous vintage details – from their “newspaper” menus to Julia’s stunning antique tiara.
Check out the photos below…They do a better job of describing this beautiful tent wedding in southern California than we can with words.
