This summer has been particularly good to us – we managed to explore so many different places on this planet, but also had the chance to see a few new venues in our own backyard. In August, we were invited to photograph Brad + Dana’s beautiful Theatre St James wedding in Montreal, Quebec. If you haven’t been to this magical corner of Old Montreal, open up a new tab and buy your plane ticket right now. Montreal is a gorgeous little spot with so many different cultural offerings, and one of the few places in North America that has a true European feel.
Their wedding day was beautifully planned by Elise Schmitz of Toast Events here in Ottawa. Forgoing florals, Elise transformed their Theatre St James wedding into a classic, art deco candle-lit space. Walking through this space, felt like walking through a Renaissance painting. We could not have asked for better light in more beautiful rooms that day. Getting ready spaces can really set the tone for the photos of a wedding day, and we’re so grateful for the perfect amount of window light we had to work with at St. James Theatre in Old Montreal Quebec.
Brad and Dana’s wedding the was perfectly elegant, dreamy and completely about these two and their families coming together. Theatre St James offers so many beautifully lit spots for portraits, that it almost seemed redundant to visit the street outside (though we absolutely did venture out through OId Montreal).
Dana and Brad’s sweet Theatre St James wedding is exactly what we’re after: elegant, intimate and truly tailored to the couple we’re photographing.
