Katharine and Andrew’s Old Field Vineyards wedding was the most pleasant surprise of the season! We had never been to the area (north fork of Long Island) and decided to make it a little roadtrip from our home in Ottawa. We spent a few nights in New York City, and from there took the 4(ish) hour drive over to Southold. Not sure if you dear readers know this about us, but roadtrips are huge for us. We spent a few winter seasons driving around the US (literally AROUND – from Ottawa, Canada down to Florida, across all the way to California, then north through Utah and the Dakotas and back east towards Ottawa). Being in the car has never bothered us, and we relish the chance, espeically to discover a new corner of the world.
The north fork of Long Island is one of the most under-rated slices of heaven out there. We had simply THE best time – soaking up the rays, the salt in the wind from the ocean, the perfect little coffee huts and seafoid shacks along the way – we didn’t want to leave! So if you’re reading this and planning a wedding in the year – contact us please! We’ll be there!
Back to the Old Fields Vineyard wedding: it was so perfectly imperfect, the setting felt storyboarded and designed, but with the softest touch. Nothing was overdone or underdone – it was just heavenly! We felt right at home with Katharine and Andrew’s inviting guests, and it was one of those days where you’re shooting and you have the luxury of slowing down each shot. It was so hard to narrow down our selection of photos, and we hope you don’t mind a long post, but here it is. A piece of our hearts remains on long island….
