We met Amanda and Bryan for their Scarborough Bluffs engagement session in the middle of this beautiful summer. We had just finished photographing this King City tent wedding, and stayed in the GTA an extra day to document their love story.
There are so many beautiful places in the Toronto area for an engagement session, but this one might actually take the cake. Located only about 25 minutes from the downtown core, its amazing that this little oasis of nature exists among all the chaos of the city. There are stunning hiking trails, endless views of the lake, marshes, ponds and sail boats. We were so lucky that we stumbled upon one of the most magical sunsets we’d yet seen.
These two were such a pleasure to photograph. They were both so playful, flirtatious with each other and open to our ideas. Everyone has their own ideas of what an engagement session should be, but to us, above all, these sessions should be wildly romantic, genuine and evocative of this joyful time in a couples life. We try to set up scenarios or create sessions with that idea in mind – the last thing we want to do is bring you to park and tell you to smile next to a random tree.
When choosing your location for your session, think about what you two actually enjoy doing as a couple. Is there something sentimental to you both or are you simply looking for a photogenic backdrop where you can just ‘be’ together? Be willing to put in that extra little effort into your own engagement sessions, and the results will end up meaning so much more to you. If you can look at the photos and see a snippet of your personality, a genuine smile, a bit of excitement in your eyes, we’ve done our job. We hope this Scarborough Bluffs engagement session is an example of that.
