Elise Schmitz of Toast Events designed one of the most beautiful and unique weddings we’ve ever photographed in Ottawa. Samantha and Amin’s renovated church wedding was a dream from beginning to end. Amin and his partners purchased a church in Vanier, and before the building goes to redevelopment and through renovations, the couple decided it was also the perfect spot to host their wedding. Their first look held a special spot in our own hearts, as we also had our reveal in the same location – at the Governor General’s Estate. The park grounds were crisp, fresh and colourful after an autumn rainfall, a perfect setting for romance.
The decor was inspired by Old World Italy – gorgeous greenery and vines hanging from the columns of the beautiful buildings, lit by tall, tapered candles with luscious florals covering their long tables. Beyond the stunning decor, the day was filled with friends and loved ones supporting the happy couple. One of Amin’s groomsmen played his violin throughout the ceremony, and the couples beautiful twin baby nieces smiled and cooed from the front row. In a split second decision, as the sun came out, Elise had the ceremony moved to the front steps of the church. This truly was one of the most unique weddings we’ve photographed!
After a delicious dinner, the dance party blew up on the dance floor. As we parted ways, the conga line was weaving in and out of the tables. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime celebration.
