Autumn in upstate New York has got to be one of our favourite seasons in one of our favourite places in the world. Aly and Maks asked us to document their Red Maple Vineyard wedding last September on the Hudson River, and we looked forward to their celebration all year long. It was the perfect way to wind down the 2018 season. We absolutely fell in love with the area. The Catskills in upstate New York are a series of vibrant and lively small towns in the most picturesque of settings. The streets are bustling, the wind rustles through the mountains and trees, there are doggy costume parades, delicious bistros and patios and most of all, the stunning history of the area.
There is so much art in the area. Namely, the Hudson River School formed there in the mid-19th century, as an art movement by a group of landscape painters whose aesthetic vision was influenced by Romanticism – being in the area, you can really see why so many artists have been influenced and inspired by this part of the world. We fell so hard in love with this area, that we’re opening a limited amount of engagement sessions here in 2019 (contact us if you’re interested).
Back to Aly and Maks: we are so thankful we had the chance to get to know these two and their amazing and gracious families. We loved photographing every minute of their Red Maple Vineyard wedding and would take any chance to come back and document more celebrations here.
