When Joel and I started planning our own wedding, my mom suggested we host a Poland castle wedding. My immediate knee-jerk reaction was my mother is crazy and there is no way we can afford that, plus who gets married in a castle in Poland??? Boy was my face red when we actually stopped by some of the castles we COULD have had our wedding in while on our honeymoon. You can actually get married in a castle in Poland (and do it very affordably). There are so many to choose from – we stopped by a few and below are some photos from our favourite ones. If you’re considering a destination wedding in Europe, and are intrigued by what Poland has to offer, drop us a line. We were completely blown away. I had to pick my jaw up off the ground, eat a slice of humble pie, look my dear mother in the eyes and say As usual, Mom, you were right and you know best. Mothers really do know best.
Poland is a highly under-rated country for destination weddings in Europe. Most peoples initial thoughts go to castles in Tuscany or elopements in Paris, the costs of both can go up quite quickly. The castles you see below are about 2-3 hours away from Prague, and a beautiful drive from the Czech Republic. Many of them have been restored as wedding venues, and include open bar, 5 course meals as well as accommodations for the couple as well as their guests.
When planning a destination wedding, we can’t overstress the importance of a good, local wedding planner. No matter where you choose to host your destination wedding, you’ll need someone reliable in the area to do the running around for you.
