A Point Dume engagement session had to happen. After driving around Malibu on a late January afternoon, we had almost fully settled on a more popular location a few miles down the road; El Matador. El Matador is beautiful for sure, but it was (as usual) crowded with other photographers, so we decided to drive along the coast and see if there was another spot to shoot. Stumbling across Point Dume with its overlooks, hills, cliffs, and beach, we knew that we had a few more options to shoot here. It was at that point we texted our lovely couple, Tanya & Bernard, to meet us here instead.
When they arrived, they brought an unexpected, but welcome guest: the wind, which blew with such intensity at times, that by the end of our session, we were shaking sand out of every crevasse of our cameras, clothes and hair. It got cold too, which only added to the drama, having Bernard legitimately warm Tanya in his arms, shielding her from the breeze. Despite being over-exfoliated, wind-slapped, wardrobe malfunctions, and sand-in-the-eyeballs (thanks to nature’s enthusiasm), we ended our session on a high, getting some of that beautiful coastal dusk-light that California is blessed with.
