Tara & John’s Notre Dame Cathedral wedding in downtown Ottawa was our first celebration of Spring / Summer 2019.
We’re often asked which weddings are our favourites to photograph. The answer has little to do with a dress, flowers or location. It’s much more simple than that: happy people who are in love, who trust us to capture the story of their day. We love photographing people who “forget” the camera (not too self-conscious) just enough to be a little vulnerable; a truer representation of themselves. Tara and John (and their families) were the perfect mix of camera unawareness and awareness for our liking and it allowed for us to shoot this wedding our fluid way.
It’s hard to write without sounding like a sales pitch for wedding photography but with whoever you choose to document your day, it will be through their vision that you will remember your wedding. We’re so grateful to the lovely people who hire us and allow us the freedom to photograph from our subjective point of view. Without being too heavy-handed on a wedding day, we strive to find a bit of joy, honesty, and a dash of realism. As you can hopefully see from the photos below, everyone made this immensely easy and enjoyable for us, too.
