We were so excited when Kayla (a fellow photographer in Ottawa) and Mike contacted us for their Mer Bleu elopement. Their day was simple and so beautiful and meaningful. The two of them, their darling pup and the forest as their witnesses. They tied the knot in the woods of south Ottawa and we spent the afternoon gallivanting about Mer Bleu. Sometimes the best days are the simplest ones. There’s something really lovely about being alone in the woods, and exchanging vows. It’s almost as though time can slow down a bit, you can really focus on the moment, without being distracted by prying eyes.
With elopements like this, my mind immediately conjures up images of these lovers, later on in their years, pouring over the album with their grandkids and telling the next generation about how romantic it was to exchange vows among the reeds and woods. This Mer Bleu elopement was a bit extra special for us, as we helped these two find the perfect spot. They knew they wanted something local and amid nature. Because Mer Bleu is basically a long boardwalk, its hard for crowds to gather, so it made the day extra intimate.
We’re truly grateful to have documented this lovely little afternoon.
