When Sasha and Ameen asked us to photograph their intimate Ottawa wedding (clumsy writing yes, but we want the SEO) with less than two months notice before the big day, we had to ask how they were going to do it. They explained to us that it would be quite simple actually; only seven guests for a small ceremony and then a dinner afterwards at a local restaurant. Wow. No fuss, no muss. Our favorite kind of wedding. Intimate, small, and all shades of lovely.
Photographing a wedding like this is a real privileged experience…There’s a unique intimacy when photographing a celebration this small and lines between ‘guest’ and ‘vendor’ become wonderfully intertwined and blurred. With such a small wedding, we really become part of the celebration itself, getting a front row seat for every hug, tear, and overjoyed smile. Gracious as can be, Sasha, Ameen, and their family and friends ensured that we were seated with them at their dinner table, enjoying the same food and drink. Above and beyond all our expectations.
The leaded skies of cold early December in Ottawa can be a tad melancholy for some, but on this fine day it felt as if the sun were shining and a warm breeze was enveloping us all.
Thanks to everyone who made this day possible, especially our lovely Sasha and Ameen who were a photographer’s dream.
