On a recent trip to Chicago, we met up with Carisma and Mark for a little shoot by the shores of Lake Michigan. Carisma and Mark knew the area well (we didn’t) so when she suggested that we drive north of the city to Evanston, we were all for it. Surrounded by historic Northwestern University and its neo-gothic buildings, a local beach, and wild parkland, it was truly a beautiful setting in which to document their engagement photo session.
Carisma is a talented videographer herself and as such, we were honored to have someone in the wedding industry trust us with their photos. Being the subject of an engagement session can sometimes seem a little odd; you’re not necessarily going to be on a natural high as you would on your wedding day, so there’s a little more posing and light-acting involved. Carisma and Mark were naturals though; happy to spend an evening in their dapper threads, and exploring a beautiful place, making new beautiful memories together. We’re can’t help but to be inspired by Slim Aarons when we shoot these kinds of sessions… glowing people in a wonderful setting, being fabulous together. What more can you ask for?
Chicago offers so many great backdrops for portraits, but we’re really glad these two chose Evanston for their engagement session. Definitely worth the drive.
